Approve & Send Email Approve with New Imported Users
The article Export & Import article mentions that users imported by third-party plugins are unapproved. This article describes the recommended way to approve imported users.
Simple approval without emails #
1) Disable emails that may be sent on approval.
Go to wp-admin > Ultimate Member > Settings > Emails and click the gear icon to edit email templates Account Welcome Email and Account Approved Email. Uncheck the box next to the Account Welcome Email and Account Approved Email and click the Save Changes button.
2) Use bulk action to approve users.
Go to wp-admin > Users, open Screen Options on the top and enlarge the Number of items per page to see more users at once. Set this option to 200 for example. Click the Apply button.
Select imported users on the first page, choose the Approve Membership in the UM Action dropdown and click the Apply button. Do the same on the second page and next pages.
3) Restore email settings.
Once all imported users are approved, go to wp-admin > Ultimate Member > Settings > Emails and enable email templates Account Welcome Email and Account Approved Email.
Approve users with email verification #
The best way to activate imported users depends on your goals. You may use the Resend Activation Email bulk action instead of the Approve Membership action if you want users to approve themselves (activate their accounts) by email.
This bulk action sets the user status to Awaiting E-mail Confirmation and sends the Account Activation Email that contains the {account_activation_link} placeholder by default. Make sure that the Account Activation Email template is enabled on wp-admin > Ultimate Member > Settings > Emails.

Approve users with email verification and password set #
You may use the Ultimate Member - Set Password plugin to allow users to set their password after the account activation. You can read the guide and setup in the article Set Password on Email Activation.
