Advanced Tab: Features
Overview
The "Features" subtab in the Advanced Tab allows you to enable new features that are being gradually introduced to enhance core and extension functionalities and platform management on your site. These new features are designed to improve the overall user experience and may include enhancements to user profiles, registration processes, user interactions, or other aspects of user management within the Ultimate Member plugin. By enabling these new features, you can take advantage of the latest developments in user management to provide a better experience for your site's users.
To configure, go to wp-admin> Ultimate Member> Settings> Advanced> Features.
Features
Gutenberg Blocks
This setting enables the use of Gutenberg blocks specifically designed for Ultimate Member within the Gutenberg editor. Gutenberg blocks are the building blocks of content in the new WordPress block editor (Gutenberg).
Enabling this setting allows you to insert and customize Ultimate Member blocks, such as user login forms or member directories, directly into your posts or pages using the Gutenberg editor. However, it's noted that some themes may have conflicts with the Gutenberg editor, so you should proceed with caution and test the compatibility of your theme with Gutenberg blocks before enabling this option. Read this article for more info: Restrict Gutenberg Blocks
Custom usermeta table
This setting allows you to enable the use of a custom table for storing user metadata instead of the default WordPress usermeta table.
By using a custom table for user metadata, Ultimate Member can streamline the process of querying and retrieving user information, which can result in faster and more efficient searches, particularly in cases where there are a large number of users or complex search criteria involved. Action Scheduler
By enabling this option, tasks are queued and processed asynchronously, which helps reduce server load by handling them at optimal times (e.g., during off-peak hours). It also provides a robust logging system, so you can track the status of each scheduled action (whether it's pending, in progress, completed, or failed). For more info, refer to this article: Action Scheduler in Ultimate Member
Legacy features
This setting refers to certain features that are considered legacy, meaning they are based on older logic or functionality that may be outdated or no longer actively developed. These legacy features are included primarily for backward compatibility purposes, allowing users who rely on older versions of Ultimate Member or have specific requirements to continue using these features.
It's advised to enable these legacy features only if necessary, such as when you are maintaining compatibility with an older version of Ultimate Member or if your site relies on functionality that has not been updated to use newer features. In general, it's recommended to use the latest features and functionality provided by Ultimate Member to ensure compatibility with the latest versions of WordPress and to take advantage of the most up-to-date features and improvements. These features are related to the legacy logic or functionality. Please enable them only for backward compatibility.
Restriction content pre-queries
This setting allows you to disable pre-queries for restriction content logic, skipping unnecessary queries before the main query on a page. It's recommended for sites with significant or unnecessary queries under active restriction logic. However, it's not advised for new users or those who want to prevent restricted content from being indexed by search engines. Enabling this option may be useful for existing users needing backward compatibility, especially to display content instead of a 404 error.
Warning: Enabling this setting may revert the restriction content logic to an earlier version without the latest security enhancements.
Deprecated Articles: Older articles have been moved to the Deprecated category and may no longer be relevant due to recent updates in Ultimate Member. However, they remain available for historical reference.
